Description

A strange coin. A hidden diary. An unexplained death. Secrets.

When a diverse group of five friends attempt to solve the fifty-year-old mystery of an unidentified boy who drowned during a hurricane, they uncover a disturbing case of racial segregation.

Ian Cooper makes a lot of mistakes, like any eleven-year-old boy. But when he accidentally sets the forest on fire behind his house, his mother has had enough. His plans to build a model ship his late father gave him are dashed when she ships him off to his grandparents in the sleepy seaside village of Mitchell Bay for the summer.

Ian learns the town has a fifty-year-old unsolved mystery – a boy drowned in the bay during a hurricane and remains unidentified. As Ian makes friends with a small diverse group of kids, they pledge to solve the mystery before the summer ends. Their efforts are thwarted by Ian's overprotective grandmother, the town bully, a shady librarian with a dark past, and an ominous hurricane that puts Ian and his friends in peril.

The Ghost in Mitchell Bay

An upper middle grade ghost/mystery novel. Book Two of the Mitchell Bay series and a sequel to The Boy in Mitchell Bay. May 2026.

When twelve-year-old Rachel Nichols begins to see and hear strange things that her friends and family do not, she enlists her friends to help her discover that what she is seeing and hearing is real and not 'all in her head' or the cruel tricks of the town bully.

Days before Halloween and her twelfth birthday, Rachel Nichols is in training for the provincial cross-country bike championships. During the last qualifying race, she encounters a mysterious presence that saves her from disaster on the course, leading to her winning the last qualifying spot. When she describes the encounter to her friends, along with recent strange occurences, they dismiss her experiences as 'all in her head'.

Combined with their arch nemisis Brody Miller's constant attacks to antagonize her, Rachel's encounters with the ghost begin to take such a toll on her that her friends finally realize that to help her, they must get to the bottom of her torment, including enlisting the services of a wacky medium to perform a seance, and digging deep into Rachel's past that uncovers a torment she has buried.

Stanley

An upper young adult coming-of-age thriller/horror based on my original screenplay. Fall 2026.

When a Black teenage outcast mistakenly believes the homicidal revenge fiction he writes causes people to die, he sets out to eliminate his enemies by crafting their deaths.

Stanley Granger is an introverted, intelligent sixteen-year-old Black teen adopted as a child by a White couple who are now bitterly divorced. His mother is a belligerent alcoholic and most of the students at his new school see him as an outcast and a misfit. His only solace is his writing, which he uses to give him a voice against those who torment him. After he writes a story about the death of an obnoxious jock at school, the jock dies as Stanley wrote would happen. It emboldens him and he sets out on a sinister path to eliminate people around him including the bullies at school, his father's racist wife, and a fascist politician.

Lost Together

An upper young adult coming-of-age thriller based on my original screenplay. Fall 2027.

A grief-stricken teen's perfect life disintegrates when he descends into his childhood bully's life of chaos - a decision that ends in tragedy.

Will Thomas appears to have the perfect life. He has a beautiful girlfriend, a loving family, a wide circle of friends, and multiple sports scholarship offers to university. He is respected and admired by everyone. But underneath all the success and adoration is a tortured young soul. When his father dies in a suspicious car accident, and his childhood bully (Shane, a troubled Indigenous teen) is released from prison, the facade of his happy life crumbles. Consumed by grief, tormented by his sexuality, and tortured by a prior suicide attempt, Will spirals into Shane's life of chaos, drugs and family violence. The two boys turn to each other to cope with their dysfunctional familes - a decision that ends in tragedy.
